Rachel Taylor Martin, LPAT
Licensed Professional Art Therapist
Are you finding it difficult to function and feeling a bit out of balance lately?
Are you looking for a new way to deal with your daily struggles?
Have you heard about art therapy, but not quite sure what it is and how it can help?
I have worked at various hospital settings for the past 25 years providing art therapy to people of all ages. I use a client-centered approach to therapy. Because who knows you and your situation any better than you?
I will help guide you with empathy and understanding. Therapy can empower you to work through your personal issue to find hope and enlightenment to make the changes you desire.
My experience has been with individuals and groups of all ages dealing with physical and mental illness. Over the years what I have realized is that everyone is dealing with something and we all need help at some point in our lives. It can happen at any age. When you have deep emotional issues it can affect you physically.
Have you been struggling with feeling lost, exhausted, anxious, depressed, stuck, confused or misunderstood?
Sometimes the things that occur in our lives can become so overwhelming that we don’t know what to do to make it better. Art therapy offers a way of discovering the underlying source of the pain through visual expression. Art can give us distance from the problem and the creative process can help us to gain clarity into the situation.
Do you need help managing your emotions?
Sometimes you can’t find the words to express what is bothering you. You can heal when you allow the emotions to move through you instead of holding onto them. When we hold on to past hurts it builds up and causes us physical and emotional pain.
Are you ready to let go of the emotional baggage?
Let’s try a different approach and see what it can do for you.
I use various interventions and art materials to spark internal issues so they can be brought to the surface where they can be explored and worked through. This enhances the healing process and brings relief as the emotional pain is allowed to be released in a positive and creative way.
Are you having trouble expressing yourself?
Art can help you to let go of the anger, fear, disappointment, doubt, resentment, guilt, and shame that have been holding you back from becoming the best version of yourself and enjoying your life. Whatever your struggle or issue is, it can be used to strengthen you, give you a new perspective, and empower you to reach your ultimate goal of becoming your true self. It can help with increasing self-worth and self-awareness as you express your feelings. You will discover strategies to deal with negative thoughts and emotions.
Schedule a 10-minute consultation with me to see if art therapy can help.
Don’t worry you don’t have to be artistic because it is more about the process of releasing and revealing things and less about how it actually looks. All you really need is to be open-minded and willing as you trust the process and you will be amazed at the progress you will make as you heal.
My clients would describe my approach as genuine, compassionate, holistic, and non-judgmental.
