Britt Riddle, DMin, MAMFT
Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
Are you a faith leader, non-profit professional, healthcare worker, educator, or caregiver and feeling burned out in your work? Do you feel isolated or anxious as you tirelessly provide for others? Do you feel pressure to “have it all together” for fear of judgment or letting people down? Are your relationships struggling because your time and energy are depleted at work? Are you feeling overwhelmed while caring for aging parents? My previous experience as a minister gives me unique insight into how caregiving roles can be both life-giving and exhausting–often at the same time. You do not have to travel this journey alone!
I work with people who feel anxious and stressed out, want to prevent or recover from work stress or burnout, are experiencing life transitions, and want to build resiliency and create meaningful lives. If you feel anxious or “on-edge” as you go about daily life, if you feel guilty when setting or sticking to boundaries, or if you feel overwhelmed with the emotional toll of caregiving, let’s see how we can help you listen to your mind, body, and spirit—so you can be the healthiest version of you!
I also work with people who have been hurt by religion/church or excluded by religious institutions. If you have been hurt by religion, first I want to say, “I’m sorry.” Religious communities can provide a beneficial sense of belonging and support, but sometimes religious beliefs can be used to control, exclude, or shame people in ways that cause significant trauma. I can help you deconstruct internalized beliefs that feel harmful and/or reconstruct a spiritual or meaning-making system that aligns with your current values. Your stories and experiences are important, and they deserve a voice and to be listened to deeply.
My therapy practice is trauma-informed, grounded in mindfulness, LGBTQIAP+-affirming, and strengths-based. In your sessions we will work together to foster new insights into your relationship with yourself and others. Together, we will clarify your values and boundaries, cultivate new problem-solving skills, develop new perspectives, and identify small changes that will help you live the life you want to live.
Your continued growth and healing are essential to enjoying meaningful connection. I offer virtual (throughout KY) and in-person therapy (in Louisville) and would be honored to provide confidential, supportive space as you explore and nurture your feelings, relationships, hopes, and dreams so you can (re)discover what brings you joy and peace.
Britt asks all potential new clients to schedule a free consult call to prior to scheduling a New Client/Initial appointment. This call is a time for you to ask any questions you may have and to share a bit about what you are hoping for in therapy—as well an opportunity as for both us to see if we may be a good fit to work together. I look forward to hearing from you!
About Britt
Originally from Louisville, I moved back to pursue a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Prior to becoming a therapist, I received a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree and Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree and served as a minister in congregations in Virginia and Kentucky. In my free time I can be found doing all the introvert things: writing, creating, reading, and practicing meditation and yoga.
