religious & spiritual identity
Religious and spiritual beliefs and community belonging, or even a lack thereof, are often overlooked features of our identities that may help us find purpose, meaning, and belonging. Oftentimes we are part of families, cultures, and faith traditions in which our families expect us to follow in their footsteps and uphold the same faith traditions that they practice. If we believe something different and choose a different path, the result can be tension, discomfort, and possibly turmoil within the family as well as you as a person. This can result in depression and anxiety that may or may not be necessary.
Therapists Britt Riddle, DMin, MAMFT, and Elizabeth McCormack, MDiv, MAMFT, have a wealth of experience working with clients who may be struggling with their religious and/or spiritual beliefs, or family members who are struggling with a loved one’s belief system.
In the last few years, we have also seen a crossover or blending in political beliefs and religious beliefs that have wreaked havoc on families. We help empower our clients to do what is best for them and their mental and emotional well-being, as well as understand more of how to best be in relationship with our families.
Britt’s and Elizabeth’s mindfulness-based approach to religious and spiritual matters is also informed by their own faith traditions and experiences in faith communities.
Both Britt and Elizabeth are graduates of the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
They are a wealth of knowledge and wisdom for clients with a specific religious background as well as clients who have no religious leanings. They are open-minded and accepting of all people.
If you feel you could benefit from working with either Elizabeth or Britt, please feel free to schedule your appointment online today or send an email:
